Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link a step closer
January 30, 2018
The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link took a step closer after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between China Railway Corporation (CR) and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, to arrange the key work during the trial operation of the Hong Kong section of the line on 29th January.
The agreement states that 127 pairs of trains will run on the line every day, reaching cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Guilin, Guiyang, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, and other cities on the Chinese mainland.
Both sides have agreed to set the ticket price on their own, that is, the Mainland section and Hong Kong section of the line set the price respectively. The price of the cross-border rail service will therefore be a total of the two.
The Hong Kong Government has revealed that the ticket price of the line from Hong Kong to Shenzhen Futian, Shenzhen North station and Humen is 80 HK dollars (about 10.2 U.S. dollars), 90 HK dollars (about 11.5 U.S. dollars) and 210 HK dollars (about 26.8 U.S. dollars) respectively.
The line will allow Hong Kong citizens to benefit from a direct train line into the Chinese mainland and onto major cities.
